Gaia Baby Hera Changing Station
When furnishing your nursery, you’ll come to realise that there really isn’t very much that a newborn needs. They need somewhere safe to sleep, someone to cuddle and feed them, and they need to be kept clean. So your nursery will have a cot (which your baby may or may not sleep in, to begin with), possibly with a baby mobile, a playmat, maybe a nursing chair, a changing table or mat and a baby dresser. Some of us have the luxury of having space to fill in the nursery and can select a beautiful piece that will enhance the ambience of the room as a whole. Gaia Baby does this really well. Others will relish the space-saving benefits of a convertible change table or mat.
When changing your baby, all you need is a safe, flat, padded surface that your little one can’t roll off. Space for a nappy bin nearby, a holder for diaper cream and baby powder or storage for clothes are welcome extras. Whatever your needs, you’ll find something to suit below. And because you’re here at PramFox, you know whichever you choose, it will be the very best quality available.
Diaper changing like a pro.
The aim of the game here is to go from a dirty diaper to a clean one with minimal mess and fuss. There are tricks to make this happen easily. First of all, choose a suitable surface, a baby changing station is the gold standard, but a changing mat (that you put on a table, counter, or floor) works great too. When out and about, a changing pad can fold up in your diaper bag and makes any flat surface a little more comfy and hygienic for bubs.
Have everything you need ready before you dive in. You will need a clean nappy, possibly clean baby clothes, wipes, possibly nappy rash cream or baby powder, and somewhere to put the dirty diaper and wipes.
Lay the clean diaper open on the changing table first, then lay your baby (with dirty nappy still on) on top. Next, take a deep breath and open the dirty diaper. For boys, an extra washcloth might be helpful here - the sudden cool breeze can often bring on a little wee. Then, hold both legs in one hand, gently lift your baby’s bottom up and wipe back to front, putting the dirty wipe in the dirty diaper.
Wipe till all clean, then as best as you can, roll the dirty diaper and wipes up and set aside. Apply cream or powder if need be, let your bubs rest back down and fasten the new diaper, which is already in position, and you’re done!
Change time can be fun too!
Nappy changes don’t have to be all grimaces and pegged noses. Just like time spent in the bath tub, change time is a wonderful opportunity to engage and bond with your baby. And mums, this is another area where dad can get involved for that all-important daddy-baby connection. A changing unit can serve as a wonderful place to spend a little time with bubs; they’re at the perfect height for a game of peek-a-boo, a baby massage or some toe tickling. On the changing table, your baby is safe and comfortable as they would be on a baby mattress, and they have a chance to look into your face as you change them. They’ll imprint your features, learn your smile and generally discover their new housemates! Take the time with your little one on the changing table for fun and games, tickles and tricks, and even some bare tummy raspberries. Many parents say that on the change table is where they saw that precious first smile!
