The Elvie Pump app is available on all phones that support Bluetooth Low Energy (excluding Huawei). iPhones must be iPhone 5s and later and have iOS10 or above. Android phones must have version 6 or later.

Will Elvie Pump work with all cup sizes?

Elvie Pump has been designed to fit within a standard nursing bra and the cup size makes no difference to how Elvie Pump works.

If you are using a particularly structured and inflexible bra, the Bra Adjuster may be used to create more room.

Getting the right sized Breast Shield is key for comfort and performance. This is based on the size of your nipple only (not even the areola!). Each Elvie Pump comes with Breast Shields in two sizes (24mm and 28mm) and a size guide on the Breast Shields themselves so that you can find your best fit. We also have an additional, smaller size (21mm) sold separately, if needed.

What Breast Shield sizes are available and how will I know if they’ll fit?

Elvie Pump comes with a 24mm and 28mm breast shield (often called a flange), a pack of two 21mm breast shield is also available to purchase.

Elvie's Breast Shields are sized based on the width of the base of your nipple. You can measure the width of the base of your nipple with a ruler. The Breast Shield sizes are as follows:

  • Base of nipple width between approximately 16mm and 18mm = 21mm breast shield
  • Base of nipple width between approximately 18mm and 21mm = 24mm breast shield
  • Base of nipple width between approximately 21mm and 25mm = 28mm breast shield

The size of your nipple may change over the course of your breastfeeding journey, so please keep the other Breast Shields that are included in the box in case you need them at a later date.

How do I know which Breast Shield size to use?

To determine the correct size, put the Breast Shield on with the sizing symbol facing upwards and place your nipple in the centre of the fit lines. The fit lines should align with the outside of your nipple.

Try different Breast Shields to find the best fit for you - 24mm and a 28mm are provided with Elvie Pump and if you need a smaller size you can purchase a 21mm.

To comfortably pump on both sides, repeat this process for both nipples to ensure you have the correct Breast Shield for each nipple.

No two nipples point in the same direction so it's also really important to align the Breast Shield to the direction of your nipples when you are putting the breast pump on.

Lanolin cream can be used for lubrication to reduce the likelihood of sore nipples.

Keep the unused Breast Shields in a safe place. Women’s bodies often change during the pumping life cycle, so you may find that another Breast Shield size becomes a better fit.

What positions can I use Elvie Pump in?

Generally Elvie recommend sitting or standing because the milk monitoring function in the app will work better if you're upright. However, depending on factors like the amount of milk in the bottle and where the pump sits on your breast, you might find you have more flexibility.

Elvie have had testers unload dishwashers, change their babies and much more - so long as Elvie Pump is functioning properly you can use it in any position you like.

Do I need a special bra to use Elvie Pump?

Elvie Pump is designed to be worn with your standard nursing bra. Elvie Pump needs to be firmly pressed against your breast, there should be no gaps between Elvie Pump and your breast.

Each and every bra has a different level of support, so make sure to get the compression right before each session. If you are using a particularly structured and inflexible bra, the Bra Adjuster may be used to create more room.

How quiet is Elvie Pump?

Elvie Pump is quieter than any other breast pump and 96% of women agree that it's noiseless. It would be very difficult for you (or anyone else) to hear it while it is inside your bra.

Does Elvie Pump have disposable bags?

Elvie Pump doesn't have disposable bags. Instead, you pump directly into the reusable bottle then just place it into the fridge or freezer for storage when you're done, or decant it into a container if you prefer.

Is expressing with Elvie Pump comfortable?

Lots of our users have previously used other breast pumps and have reported Elvie Pump is more comfortable. Comfort is often about using the correctly sized Breast Shield (flange) and finding the right intensity. Watch the video below for advice on how to choose the Breast Shield that fits best.

What level of suction can I expect from Elvie Pump?

Elvie Pump has a similar range of suction to other pumps on the market and seven intensity settings. Your highest comfortable setting is usually your most efficient setting in terms of milk production so we recommend you try different settings until you find the right one for you.

What is the capacity of the bottles?

The bottles hold 5oz or 150ml of milk. If you fill a bottle during a session, it's very easy to pause Elvie Pump and change bottles, before continuing to pump. Elvie Pump will automatically pause when it detects that the bottle is full.

How many modes and intensity settings does Elvie Pump have?

Elvie Pump has a stimulation and an expression mode, as well as seven intensity settings so you can find the level that is most comfortable and efficient for you.

Is Elvie Pump a closed system?

Yes, Elvie Pump is a closed system.

Do I need to massage my breast before using Elvie Pump?

Elvie Pump has a stimulation mode for let-down, but if you usually massage your breast to help with let-down (or expressing in general) then you can absolutely do that before using Elvie Pump.

Can I use Elvie Pump without the app?

Using the Elvie Pump app will allow you to access Elvie Pump's smart features, including remote control, live milk monitoring and viewable pumping session history. You will also be notified via the app whenever there is a firmware upgrade. Firmware upgrades improve the function of your Pump. Some features that have been included in firmware upgrades so far include personalizing intensity settings and the ability to dim the light on the Play / Pause button. We always recommend you use the app so you will be notified of the latest features and get the best out of your Elvie Pump.

How and when do I clean and sterilize Elvie Pump?

The Hub

The Hub contains electronics which should be kept dry. A clean, damp cloth can be used to clean the Hub. The black semicircle on the base of the Hub monitors milk volume. Please keep this area dry and clear of residue. Any other cleaning method will be classed as misuse under the warranty.

Cleaning washable components that come into contact with milk prevents the build up of dry milk residue, which can cause the growth of bacteria that may be harmful to you and your baby.

Can more than one person use Elvie Pump?

No, Elvie Pump is a single-user product.

Elvie Pump is backed by a limited manufacturer’s warranty against any defects in materials and/or workmanship: the Hub for two (2) years and the washable components for 90 days from the date of original purchase. Defects discovered within the warranty period should be reported to Chiaro Technology Limited, “Chiaro”. Chiaro reserves the right to a period of investigation to establish the cause of the defect and may exercise its discretion in determining whether or not to replace free of charge.

This warranty does not cover cosmetic deterioration or damage caused by general wear and tear, physical or natural destruction, accident, misuse, neglect or other external causes. Any attempt to take the Hub apart will invalidate this warranty. The warranty does not cover purchases from non-authorized resellers.

Any warranty claims must be supported with reasonable evidence, including proof of date of purchase, alongside these warranty conditions. Chiaro must be notified of any defects. They will then provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorization number, which must be displayed on the outside packaging. In the event that Chiaro decides to provide a replacement, any replacement will not extend the life of this warranty.

This is a single-user product. Use by more than one person may present a health risk and voids the warranty. Please keep your proof of purchase in the event that you need to contact PramFox to make your claims.

Simply place the pump in your nursing bra, turn it on and press Play on the pump or in the app to start your pumping session. Elvie Pump will automatically switch from Stimulation to Expression mode and will stop pumping when the bottle is full. Elvie Pump is designed to fit in your bra, and your life - so you can go about your daily routine while you pump.
