Leander High Chair Newborn Seat
Benefits of a good baby bouncer, rocker or swing.
Babies have a lot to learn, just about everything other than eating, sleeping and … well, you know! And they learn by observing. Your little one will watch everything you do, taking careful mental notes. So it makes sense to give them the best place from which to do all this observation. We love baby swings and bouncers because they keep bubs in the middle of the action and in a semi-upright position so they can see and hear everything that goes on.
This is particularly important at meal times. Although they may be tiny right now, in nearly no time, they’ll be propped up in their high chairs smearing food all over their faces. Learning how to eat food like a big kid begins by watching mum and dad. When your little one joins you at meal times, they’re learning that eating is normal, healthy and enjoyable - lessons that are the building blocks of a lifetime of healthy eating habits.
A really good bouncer, rocker or swing has the added benefit of being able to soothe your fussy baby. Before they were born, they spent all day bouncing up and down, so newborns love to be rocked, swung or bounced as it feels familiar and comforting. Some bouncers respond to your baby’s own movement, bouncing after they kick or wriggle (or when you bounce them with a foot or free hand), while others use electricity to keep bubs in motion. The addition of white noise or lullabies, baby mobiles or vibration, can take your swing from simply a convenient place to pop a happy baby to the ultimate baby soothing machine!
Do I need a baby bouncer?
Quick question. Do you like showering? If yes, then you need a baby bouncer. While you’ll find you can do almost everything with your newborn in your arms, eventually you’ll have to put them down. The playmat and a scattering of baby toys will be good at times, and of course, they’ll have naps, but sometimes they’ll be up and about, wanting to be part of the action and nothing but a comfy chair will do.
Some babies just love being in the bouncer and will be happily propped up amongst the action at all times of day (and possibly night, unfortunately), while others will be much more of a ‘you will hold me at all times or else’ kind of kid. Luckily a bouncer, swing or rocker isn’t a huge investment, so it is certainly worth purchasing one and putting it to the test. It could just be the lifesaver you’re looking for.
