Buying for baby can seem a little ‘high stakes’. There are so many big ticket items to shop for with so much to consider, big decisions to make, and often with price tags to match. It is vital that you choose the right stroller or crib to fit your home and life, because as you’ll likely buy only one, you have to get it right. So we’re very happy to take your hand and guide you over to our baby clothes, where you can let out a big sigh and relax a little. Your baby, or the baby you are shopping for, will need a lot of clothes. Some of them will be in use for mere minutes before needing to be swapped out for a new, clean outfit. And so, we can have a lot more fun shopping for them!

We have curated a selection of baby and toddler clothes that are all made to the highest quality standards by reputable, responsible makers who craft their clothes with love and care. Each piece is made of soft, sustainable fibres that won’t irritate a little one’s delicate skin. They make the most of natural, breathable fabrics chosen specifically to suit our balmy climate. And, of course, we’ve chosen the sweetest patterns, colours and designs to make your little angel look every bit as angelic as you wish they would be!

What to consider when choosing newborn clothes

There are quite a few very obvious things you’ll consider when buying baby clothes. Things like comfort, safety, washability… and frankly, most of these things have already been taken care of by us and the brands we choose to stock. All of the clothes you’ve just scrolled past are made with buttery-soft, stretchy fabrics that won’t irritate your baby’s skin or restrict their movement, they are all designed to be easy to pop on and off your tiny little newborn or rolly-polly toddler, they are all made without dangerous chemicals, dangling ties or small parts.

There is something else we’d like you to carefully consider when buying clothes for babies and toddlers. Unlike those one-and-done purchases like a car seat or change table, it’s easy to find yourself with a cart FULL of baby clothes that were simply too cute to pass up. And this is why, when shopping for baby clothes, we want you to consider the issue of waste. One mum at PramFox, counted up the number of 0-3 month-sized onesies she’d accumulated and was astonished to find that it was actually more than the number of days that her little one would fit that age range!

When choosing child, toddler or newborn baby clothes, please carefully consider if it is something that they need, something that they will truly wear, and something of high enough quality to stand the rigorous washing that a well-used baby garment will be subjected to so that they can be handed down and used by siblings, cousins and friends. We have selected the clothes on our website carefully. We have steered far clear of fast fashion, mass-produced, low-quality pieces, and have made sure to stock only the best quality little clothes that can be worn and worn and worn. Just as a piece of clothing should be.

Dressing your baby for Singapore weather

One of the many challenges a new parent faces is what to dress their little ones in. As newborn babies are yet to master the ability to regulate their own body temperature, this is yet another task left to their carer. If you are to read government advice about ideal temperatures for a baby in Singapore, you’ll find the range is reassuringly broad - anywhere between 18 and 25 degrees, but between overpowering air-conditioning and trips outdoors, we can be sure our baby will not exist only in this happy range.

When trips outdoors are on the cards, we recommend limiting your baby’s clothing to one breathable layer made of a natural fibre like cotton, bamboo or wool. The team at Snuggle Hunny Kids make some beautiful, breathable designs that fit this bill perfectly! Keep them in the shade and ideally with air movement, from walking, moving or a fan. And as your little one will (hopefully!) spend so much of their time in a crib or bassinet, the same principles of breathability can be applied to bedding too. Let The Little Green Sheep take care of things for you here.

When indoors with air conditioning, dress your little one in one more layer than you have on. Add a cardigan, or a light blanket, or dress them in a onesie just to keep the chilled air away from their skin.

Be mindful of overheating when baby-wearing too. We have a fantastic selection of very breathable baby carriers but remember, as their skin is in contact with yours they’ll be gaining warmth from you. So when you have your baby in the carrier, make sure to dress them extra lightly - a simple body suit over their nappy with bare arms and legs will be perfect.
